How do I get rid of the fear I have?

My son is a senior and will graduate this June. He has joined the army and already I have had dreams of a soldier knocking at my door telling me my son has been killed. It's driving me crazy!!

yeah i don't think that fear is going anywhere soon... you just need to find a good way to cope...

I think that's a natural fear.
What I don't understand is why people who are graduating join the military.

You won't get rid of it, but it will diminish over time.

I have the same fear because my son has expressed interest in joining the army after high school. I try not to think about it and I also remind him there are other options in life after graduation besides the military...but ultimately I know it is his choice.

Release the need to have control over his life and see if that helps. (I have a son myself, although very young right now. I would lose my mind if he left home, much less joined the military.) I wish you peace of mind.

I aren't going to get rid of that fear. It isn't irrational by any means.
