How do I nicely tell my ex-husband I wish I could celebrate my birthday not at his Mom's house?

He and I are friends, and I do not mind going to his Mom's house for other hoildays such as 4th of July , Easter, and Christmas, but I would prefer to have a quiet day at home for my birthday. I could always drop by to get my card and gift later, of course. I do buy gifts for his Mom and his disabled sister who is at home by the way.

just tell him. just like that. If he gets his feelings hurt, he'll get over it...it's not worth saying nothing & ruining your day over.

Tell him that since you are no longer together, that you have made other plans, it is your birthday, not his or his mom's!!!!
Or tell the truth, you don't want to do that. After all it is your birthday.
