Word of advice? When you eventually talk to him, DON'T lead off with that last part.

Lol, I didn't plan on literally saying that. I just don't know how to explain it to him.

Talk to him like a person straight to the point don't sugar code anything. You dad is no different than anyone else he's a person. Sit him done and let him know why you on medication. What's going on in your life. Trust me I'm an animal lover I love them more than humans sometimes or as much. I have a love for animals and a passion to take care of them and want them around me more than people. I can't explain it but I know what your feeling. I love my little dog so much everyone else tells me it wrong because it's just a dog. We live in a world that's evil withevil people so animals sometimes are much better than humans in a sense. We should look to them as examples. Our job is to take care of them. Don't explain why you put animals before humans he will never understand no one will unless they are like you. Only those who do the same understands each other

He knows I went through a period of depression and the only thing he could tell me was "depression is fake. You're having a bad day. Make new friends. blah blah blah". I love this poem and I think you will too :) From time to time, people tell me, "lighten up, it's just a dog," or "that's a lot of money for just a dog." They don't understand the distance travelled, the time spent, or the costs involved for "just a dog." Some of my proudest moments have come about with "just a dog." Many hours have passed and my only company was "just a dog," but I did not once feel slighted. Some of my saddest moments have been brought aobut by "just a dog," and in those days of darkness, the gentle touch of "just a dog" gave me comfort and reason to overcome the day. If you, too, think it's "just a dog," then you probably understand phrases like "just a friend," "just a sunrise," or "just a promise." "Just a dog" brings into my life the very essence of friendship, trust, and pure unbridled joy. "Just a dog" brings out the compassion and patience that make me a better person. Because of "just a dog" I will rise early, take long walks and look longingly to the future. So for me and folks like me, it's not "just a dog" but an embodiment of all the hopes and dreams of the future, the fond memories of the past, and the pure joy of the moment. "Just a dog" brings out what's good in me and diverts my thoughts away from myself and the worries of the day. I hope that someday they can understand that its' not "just a dog" but the thing that gives me humanity and keeps me from being "just a man" or "just a woman." So the next time you hear the phrase "just a dog," just smile, because they "just don't understand." ~Unknown Author~

Love this poem it's how I feel. Animals are not just animals when you love and care for them they add another layer to your life. They give you something a human cant. My dog is very special to me and so are animals I love them so much. Seriously you investing love, attention, money, sacrifices, compromises, thinking about something other than yourself every single day. I have depression also it's not fake it's a sickness. It's like you have no control over your emotions or body or anything your inprision in your own feelings. Don't study your father he don't understand you or who you are the least he can do is try. My dog is there when I'm happy he's there when I'm hurting, crying, sick need love, he fills a part of my life that no human has ever been able to. I have love and people in my life I'm not lacking anything but my animal and love for animals is something I can't explain and never will be able to

Oh! I adore animals more than human, although i try my best to help people but online not in real as i isolated myself and do the feed stray dogs and talk with the dogs and pat and do what it takes to make them happy. You can show your dad how much you feel happy while you are around animals, that is how my mom took my condition and made me like stay focus on doing my things away from people, hope that helps and parents always will understand what you are going through if showed them not just telling them.

I appreciate those words :) My dad has seen how I act around animals and he knows they have a very special place in my heart. I just have this feeling he is going to ask me why though and I don't know how to explain to him that it's because of my family that makes me cherish and animals life more!

Oh! you can let your dad asks you when time comes, and tell him that you trust more animals more than human, which is a real thing as i can trust myself on a wild animal and never on human as wild animal will do just eat me if feel hungry not stabs at my abck with no reason. You just let your dad start the conversations and as you can talk sense with him to make him know you are happier that way away from human and will don't ask you more about it any longer.
