Scared is the LAST thing you should be! I filed bankruptcy when I divorced and I just knew that I'd never be able to get anything or do anything. Before I even went to court, my car "died" and I just knew that was it for me. However, I ran into one of the nicest car salesman and ended up getting me a new car, with no problems...no high interest rates or nothing!

When it was time for me to go to court, none of my creditors showed up, so the judge told me that he was going to approve me for the one that you don't have to pay anything back (Chapter 7, I think). I was shocked, but hey, that's what the judge ordered so I went with it. Within that same year, I received all kinds of credit card offers with CRAZY limits....the lowest limit was 10,000....the highest one I received was 100,000, I tore all of that up, I was NOT falling into the credit card trap again!

I'm going to have to file again....here 12 years later because I am not able to work cause of my health (on SS) and these hospitals are not working with me...I refuse to let anything stress me again 'cause I don't want to end up in the hospital again. So filing bankruptcy, for me, is relief!

Tee0709, just take it easy and most of all, don't be scared, it's not as bad as you think. Take Care,

you follow the directions. keep all your reciepts (depending on which type you filed) and hold your head up. Hold it up and look everyone in the eye.

I think most bankrupt people are alone in agony, for near and dear ones are first to leave you dry.As for u,if u believe in god, accept it as destined for you by him and begin ur life afresh.Give your best and since u have seen the worst, results can only be better for u.

I am sorry to hear that, keep your chin up everything will work itself out. And remeber you are not alone, there are many people who have done this. I think the laws have changed a few years ago,

here is the US government website, they may have some answers for you.
