How do you add friends on here? By adding them to your circle?

Is it acceptable to see someones profile and add them? Do I have to ask them first - what is the process? I don't want to seem weird but I've noticed a few people who I think I have things in common with and would like to add them. Help!

If there's someone you'd like to add to your circle then of course do so. Some cautious users may want to know a little bit about you first or some may just accept automatically. I see we have some things in common too. You can add me if you like. :)
