How do you cheer yourself up when you're down? Something that works!?

It depends on your definition of "cheer yourself up" I guess. I use Aromatherapy Treatments, herbology, and sensory bombardment to achieve my goal moods.

For example, today I had some trouble getting motivated to actually get some work done on my website and marketing. I was very blah, uninspired, and generally feeling "run down". To 'cheer' myself up, I started a "collection trip". I got myself a drink, my cigarettes and then thought to myself "what do I need to do today with my business?" Once the decision was made I determined I needed a nice mellow aroma to surround me to help bring me out of the doldroms but not overstimulate me to where I'm cleaning house instead of working. So I lit some Sandlewood incense.

Now, if you are anything like me, I can get too mellow where I just want to go and watch television and just kinda sink into the sofa. Thus, sensory bombardment comes into play. I know if I leave the computer area I'm not going to get any work done. So I put on my favorite radio station using the live feed on the station's website and let it run in the background. Additionally, I turn on the T.V. and change to a "duh" station that has a lot of activity in it like the T.V. Guide channel. However, I mute the sound (the television and computer are right next to each other in our bedroom) so that there is always a sense of "people" in the room. This affects your subconscious mind to inspire a state of "activity" in your mindset. The "work" mentality rises to the fore and prevents you from becoming a couch potato.

Another thing I use is herbology. I am unable to focus on ANYTHING without Xanax. This have been proven time and again with modern drugs and psychology. However, the side effects of Xanax are not worth it for me to take it as I am supposed to. Thus for years I would be on again, off again with my meds. That is until I got fed up with and did something about it. I did some lengthy research on my condition and the drug Xanax for why it worked as it did. I found a combination of herbs that executes the same functions Xanax was purported to manipulate. None of the side effects of modern Xanax but I have perfected my formula for my personal focus needs and it's 100% safe and legal, not to mention way cheaper on my pocketbook. So those days I need to focus, I go to the kitchen drawer and take one with lunch or a snack.

So, as I said it really depends on how "cheer" you want to get. You can either do the research yourself for the best atmosphere treatment suited to you or feel free to PM me with what kind of mood you want to achieve and I can share a few suggestions.

I wouldn't have posted this but I didn't see anyone who uses similar methods and thought I would share...

Lately, I've been getting on EP reading different people experiences. When I'm really down...so low I don't even want to turn the computer on, I yell, cry and scream to God, before too long, I feel His presence and I feel better. Then I get on EP...the love (and hate) I feel here on EP kind of balances things out for me! Take Care!

I read somewhere that eating spicy foods can help. It releases endorphins.

i have really good sex or curl up in the comfiest clothes that u can find and watch the stupidest funny movie. Let yourself have a day to try to fiqure out why ur upset and do something to cheer yourself. If that doesnt work try something completely new to get yourself out of the slump. Maybe u will end up finding something or someone new in your life.

I have a few friends who are great to talk to when I need cheering up. I listen to music and I eat comfort food like chocolate and ice cream.

When I am down the only thing's that cheer me up is going outside to play sports or just take a walk, I do homemade scrapbooks which cheers me up, and I play gutair and keyboard and listen too music that cheers me up when I am down. The biggest thing of all that cheers me up is talking with my higher power of spirtuitaly, I try to never let small things get too me or get me down, because life to is sweet and frail to let every little thing bug me.

i make fun of the ugly people who try to act like they're hot ****... you know who i'm talking about... the chicks who wear belly-baring shirts with their belly lookin' all "budda-licious" and shorts so short they got massive camel toe... or the skanky skinny ones who all dye their hair the same color (blonde with red or black streaks) and hang out in groups and wear 10 inches of makeup & try to look hot but they look like crackheads (trust me i know a lot of crackheads)

A few ideas are as followed;

Keep a running list of inspiring quotes and uplifting jokes. Refer to them when you need to.

Call a friend and ask her to tell you her favorite joke.

Think about how things would look if your life were perfect. Now imagine your life is just that way, and live out the rest of the day with that awareness.

Go outside. A few minutes of fresh air can do wonders for your mood.

I go to the movies. I really enjoy doing that so it cheers me up. Unfortunatly lately I can't afford to, so I just wait it out.

I watch funny movies, cartoons, stand up comedians or go to the field and play fetch with my dog. Animals are great entertainer too.
