    You don't. Instead of acting embarrassed which invites everyone to laugh at you, you act amazed and say something like, "Wow. Mom was right. You need to watch where you are going." or "Now I know what the fish in a fish take feel like." or "Darn that is hard air."

    By joking people laugh with you instead of at you.

    (I did the exact same thing yesterday.)
