Chronic is a matter of perspective ...everyone complains.
That is difficult. I deal with a lot of this in my position in life. I usually say, I am sorry to hear that and change the subject. It is very hard if you are living with the person.
That makes most men go to work. LOL
I will happily commiserate with a friend or family member if I feel they need it, but I cannot tolerate people who complain about things that they have not tried to change, that is something entirely different.
Maybe avoid them if you feel that way about them.
I have a chronic complainer at work; she wants to complain about the same old issues all the time, every day, to anyone who will listen. She does everything, but change herself, change how she responds, how she acts. I can't say anything to console her. I think she gets something out of it; althoiugh I can't imagine what.
agree with them and start suggesting creative ways to get them out of your misery...
walk away...let them find someone else to complain to...
