Firstly, they aren't on the internet. Secondly, you can find them by your side at your lowest moments.

Lose everything. When your chip count is down or gone, you've offended others because your hurt and spent. (The ones who are still there are your friends)

Experience loss or tragedy and watch them scatter. Most honestly don't know what to do; some are afraid of saying the wrong thing. Then there are those who just don't want their mood ruined (understandable). The ones who wait it out with you, and risk putting their foot in it sometimes---those are the real thing.

    * Call them up at 2 am and say you have a flat tire and need a ride. If they come, they are true friends.
    * Move to another house. That'll REALLY shows you who your true friends are.

Sometimes it can take time finding who true friends are, but when the chips are down they will be there at your side.

Your true friends are always there, through the thick and thin, through the good times and the bad; your true friends have your back. If they can't be with you in person, they are with you in spirit. They want the best for you, always.

I found out when I shattered my right leg (double compound tib-fib that was so shattered I had to have an external fixator and then had a pseudomonas bone infection!).

My friends were there for me, cheering me up.

You insult them, they hit you back with a better insult and instead of getting pissed, you admire that. Maybe thats my kind of friendship..
