How do you feel about musicals?

I like musicals, but I am a fan of sort of non-traditional musicals (as evidenced by my avatar). Some musicals kick a$$. And some are hilarious. "Avenue Q," anyone? Some other musicals have great messages or good connotations for me, like Elphaba from Wicked. I don't like all musicals, and I know that musicals in general aren't for everybody, but as long as no one's shoving them down your throat, what's the harm?

LaMalquerida	Posted Feb 6th, 2009 at 7:54PM The best musical of all time is Les Miserables, based on the epic novel by Victor Hugo. I have the entire score recorded at the Royal Albert Hall in London. When I am going through a crisis, I listen to the whole thing start to finish. This may sound mad, but the music and lyrics bolster your spirit and fill you with hope. I am a big musical fan though. My faves are: Wicked, Fiddler on the Roof, Phantom of the Opera, Moulin Rouge, Chicago, Oklahoma, and Mamma Mia. I think to like musicals, you have to have a certain character. Music and the arts move me, so I fit the bill. Rated: +1Vote for this!

sothisisme	Posted Feb 5th, 2009 at 5:58PM modern musicals suck yes... but i have fond memories of musicals as a kid... 7 brides for 7 brothers, popeye with robin williams.. bugsy malone ( scott bayo and jodie foster in it as a kid) musicals cant be looked at in a realistic way they are just fantasy... but hey you hate em so its just not your thing and thats ok Rated: +1Vote for this!

chelswildflower	Posted Feb 5th, 2009 at 6:14PM there is such a diverse selection........some are horrible, some are great. my favorite is definitely avenue Q zanna don't!, [title of show], west side story, rent (the stage musical), and a chorus line are also amazing Rated: +1Vote for this!
