Having worked in a record store from the early 70's to 1999, I would tell you try to remember how old the song is, what type of music describes it best, fast or slow, what prominent instrument, and what it reminds you of. Hum it to people, especially if there is a family owned record/music store near you. If you can describe it more here, or send a message to me describing it, I would be happy to try and help. Also, bands that play locally that are playing the same type of music may be able to help you figure it out.
Well, I was not familiar with the song you described. I tried to do some research but came up with the same information you have. Unfortunately, I stopped working in the family record store in 1999, and it closed around 2004. What I was able to find is most of the music from the show was produced by Shin Yoshimuro and composed by Takayuki Negishi. There is a site where you can download a lot of the songs, but most I listened to were not instrumental. The site is: http://search.aimini.com/?q=tokyo%20mew%20mew&crpl=0-lmn9ni-14&tot=1f&nxt=40. According to other info, you are supposed to be able to find a lot of the music on itunes, also. Most of what I found there and on Amazon was for 4kids tv, which evidently lost the rights to some of the shows. I wish I could help you more! I still love it when music means alot to people. I worked from the age of 12 to 40, with my parents, sister and then two of my children. Don't give up! I wll try to keep looking, also. Good Luck!
Try searching for Shakuhachi meditation or zen music. Shakuhachi is Japanese bamboo flute music from what I can find. Levi Chen - Celtic Zen CD there is a song on this called Wind, The Wolf, and the Wild...plays a sampling on the site so you can hear the type of music.
A "google" search of Shakuhachi and Japanese will list some Japanese artist. I don't know if that will bring any luck or not.
The only thing I can suggest for that is to continue entering the information in different ways on search engines. As for finding songs and artists, you may want to try www.allmusic.com
The only other ones I know would be Celtic, Meditation, and Zen. Not sure those are what you are looking for. These are definitely not my area of expertise, and I wish they were so I could help more. All these years later, and I still hate it when someone is looking so hard for a song and I cannot find it for them.
I guess it's worth a try. If you actually have a sample of the song, song recognition apps from smart phones may work.
Can you remember how it goes? Hum it onto U Tube or something, (daft as it may sound it could help, someone might recognise it, what lead instrument was is played on ? Roughly when did you first hear it? Any idea, what style it was, Classical /Pop???
Have you named instruments in your youtube search?
Do you have the link so we can hear it. You never know, we might at least know the style.
