I don't know what you do, but for me in the Motor trade, I am very good at my work, and I have found that I get respect from fellow guys doing the same thing. I too can appreciate someone else's work and have said to them that this or that was a nice job. I guess that is a form of respect.

I do it or see it almost daily. When dealing with neurotics, it's hard to get through. Just have to keep standing up for yourself. Change your actions at work too, it mixes up the tards a lot. Become as independent as you can. Keep space too,

Well; you need to respect yourself ... can you look in the mirror everyday and not be ashamed of who you are ? If you can; you have self respect ....

Then; you need to show respect to others ..parents, spouse , boyfriend, girlfriend , SO , strangers etc ... use Sir, Miss, Mrs. , Mr. , Please, Thank You etc etc .....

BUT: you DO need to stand up for yourself if people try to talk down to you and /or verbally abuse you ..... That will get you more respect than if you always back down ....
