you take the partner to counseling, or get away from them. Unless the controlling is something like a healthy keeping you in line, difficult to explain a stern from a controlling, controlling, bad, stern and keeping one in line and away from trouble, good.

Be up front and say you dont like that behavior and request changes.
If that fails, then fight for rights.
If that goes south, then head out i guess
