If your cat is anything like my cats, who will eat anything (edible or not), then it's probably a lost cause.

.....or just stop coating your popcorn in maryjane. Your cat probably thinks it's catnip.

Just shut the cat in another room, or give it some treats of its own for a temporary distraction. If it's nice outside, then perhaps eat your popcorn outside.

Well it's been a bit more than an hour, lols. Try giving your cat some popcorn with some spicy food that your cat doesn't like.
