How do you know if you have a yeast infection?

i mean sure i've reaserched over the internet sooo much about this, and they generally all say the same thing. I'm wondering if discharge is bad (which i've read is not from teenwire), but when IS it bad? I don't have a bad odor or anything, and for as long as i can remember (puberty) i've had the same discharge. Sometimes it gets alil more than usual when i'm ovulating (thats how i know lol). But i've read that 75% of women will have a yeast infection and it is very common. And i do itch every couple of months now and then but nothing chronic or anything. Like i said its been like this as long as i can remember. i guess i'm wondering if i'm "normal" or not. How much does a gynecologist cost in fl anyways?

Is This A Good Question? (1)

I don't know how much a gynecologist costs in Fl. But I do know they have free clinics all over the place. Only a doctor can tell if you have a yeast infection. I don't know what could happen if it is left untreated, but I wouldn't chance finding out.

With a yeast infection there is a lot of itching, burning and urination. There is also discharge that has a bad oder. Go to the drugstore and buy some Monostat. Ask the drugist where to find it and if you have any queations ask them before you leave. Years ago I had this and asked my doctor where it comes from and his answer was,"FROM GOD". That meant it comes and may come again but it doesnt mean you caught anything from anybody so have no fear. If it does come again do the same thing. Also buy something for the itch because it is wicked and you dont want to be scratching all day long. Good luck!!!

the health clinic will give you free or little charge for a pap smaer and other things. like birth controll. a family doc will be what you pay to his visit. gynecologist is costly. one hundred or up.

If you're embarrassed or can't afford to go to a clinic or a doc, do what squeeksgirl recommends. Get that test to be sure it's not something else. At yeast you'll know. Sorry, couldn't help myself! :)

i dont know how much a doc costs in your area but i do know about a yeast infection first hand. if you itch thats fine but it is when you cant sit still because of the itch when its bad, also your discharge will be a little thick and white like milk. i know this is gonna sound crazy but if you taste it and its sour its infected. the best way to take care of it with out a doctor is to get monostat 7 its the best it clears it up in a week. good luck!

I use to get them all the time. It has to do with the amount of yeast your chemistry produces. I started reading up on things that caused them and haven't had an infection in several yrs... I starting douching with vinegar and water. I stopped taking long hot bubble baths and started using panty shields to ward off moisture. I still have a highly acidic discharge sometimes; hence, the shields keep me from going through panties. But, I don't have yeast infections, anymore! Another thing, is that men can have them and it's very hard for them to know it.

If I'm not mistaken, they sell a kit at the Wal Mart pharmacy to test for a yeast infection.

It sounds to me like you're just having normal discharge, though. I have had a yeast infection, and the burning and itching was so severe and constant that I had to get relief fast!
