How do you learn to like working in a day care?

I just started working in a day care going on my second week. I have never wanted to work with kids, or even have kids for that matter. As I get older my feelings are starting to change about having kids. Now at the day care I am starting to form a bond with the kids. My problem is that I don't feel like I am doing a good enough job with them. I am pretty patient with them, I take care of six 1 year olds and it can be pretty hectic most days. I just don't know what I can do to become more comfortable and confident in doing my job well and enjoying it. Any advice

My Hats Off to You! To everyone & anyone who works with kids. It's a very hard job to do with little pay. One of the most important jobs as well.
I have 2 sons, 7 yrs age difference between them. It was all I could do to handle & keep up with them. I can't imagine what it's like to have 6 kids to deal with at once. I don't have any advice for you. I just wanted to say Thank You from us Moms who work.

I work for a large company that administers the Head Start (like preschool) for two counties. one, we don't hire people not excited about caring for young children. that should be learned prior to starting. two, kids see right through you. my best advice is to be sincere. three, six one-year-olds is way too many for one person. it's actually against the law around here.

It sounds like you're probably doing a better job than you think.

All I can say is that if you start to treat the kids badly, it's time to move on. As a parent, there's nothing worse than depending on virtual strangers to treat your kids well when you aren't around.

Six one yr olds are rough to begin with. But when they are your own, its different. I love all babies, of all colors, but taking care of six at one time, at that age, IDK!!!!!!!!!!!!

I did work experience for a week, and that was enough so snaps to you *clicks fingers*. I found that getting to know the kids helps a lot, but you seem to have laready done that.

My first question is why did you take a job in a day care if you don't like children?
It's good you want to learn to like them, but a turnaround in your attitude is necessary.
If you look at them as little individuals which by now you've probably discovered and appreciate them for their individuality. Look at this as a challenge.
Remember, you don't have to fall in love with your charges, you just have to like them and treat them with respect and kindness.
Good luck!
