My best friend since the 5th grade....we have been through everything together and is the only guy i would say that about. I would give him a kidney if he needed it. Thats about as real as it gets.

A friend is someone who knows you and still loves you. It is someone who is there even when it is most inconvenient to do so. A friend will not lie to you, nor betray you.
If someone is a real friend (as described above), then yes they are very real to me.
On the other hand, 'acquaintences' (which is usually called a 'friend' nowdays), can be real or phony. They don't have the depth, and they may not care to.
The self-professed friends who insist on calling themselves that, even though you can see that they intend otherwise. They're acting, and bad at it.Like (1)

I hope they are as genuine as i am. Yes i do treat my friends on EP exactly the same as i would anywhere else. I have had in the past some "friends" in the virtual world who have not been all they seem, but mostly the people on here i have found to be nice people. :)
