I host a community drum circle 3 times a month. Participation is free and I lend my drums for free.

We presently have more than 550 members from ages under 10 to 93 (!). 65% of our participants are women. 85% are novice drummers with no previous experience. We have been joined by guests from 25 different countries. One of our regular participants is a woman with cerebral palsy who gets to be on equal footing with everyone else, even though she has trouble talking and crossing the room, she drums just fine. I have done this for free since the 90's because I don't want it to be "exclusive".

i am not sure if it does make a difference in the community....but it certainly makes a difference to my life....i teaches the poor children and i tell them stories and they tell me stories and they remind me what i have to do in my routine work..i come to know how alcoholics parents disturb their whole mental set up...how grateful they are with just a piece of sweets given to them and how simple is their dream. with them i learn to be thankful towards what comes my way.
