Happiness to me, is, being in a state of contentment; feeling grateful for the moment you are in, and having people in your life who care about you, and knowing that your presence matters.

That is a very good question. So many say they want happiness or to be happy. They just don't understand that, like any emotion, it is only temporary. Not a full time state of being. Even if it was they'd want more.

To me happiness is an illusion but I can still be happy by laughing, watching a funny movie, falling in love (longest form of happiness). Anything that makes you feel elated for a time, well even drugs I suppose but they are temporary and have bad side effects so forget them.

My belief is that if one pursues happiness they will always be disappointed as they don't know what it is. A brief emotion. Your footy team wins the flag. Hooray, Elation. Next day, what next?

Happiness is when you don't seek it.
