How Do you stop from becoming a Homeless and a Failure(due to disabilty) (forms and appts all very difficult)?
I"m in my early 30s. Male. Childhood brain trauma.
i've never had any help. i went to school but pretty much mute and do not have social skills and have very bad communicaton, memory, understanding problems. I tried some temp jobs but that never went good..they all fired me cause i never fit in.
Now i'm jobless and i dont want to be homeless but now i have 0$ in the bank and have school loans and car loans etc(i didn't buy the car, my parents forced on me)
I'm getting help in getting a job but so far it's been 1 year and nothing cause i have many mental problems and it's difficult to find anything i can do.
and soon i will have no house. so yeah.
And then to get disability or help. you need a bunch of time and luck and fill bunch of forms. it's so difficult. The disability doesn't even want to accept you. they didn't accept me 2 times already。And to get houseing you need to be accepted first, and
apparently they seem to give all the housing to the latin with kids.

Well you seem to write pretty coherently so you got that in your favor. Are you applying for SSDI ( Social Security Disability Insurance ?) Or SSI ? I used to get both. It is normal to get denied the first time.Like the girl said hire a lawyer who specializes in these cases. If you lose you don't have to pay him . If you win you should get a check in one lump sum that is retroactive from the first date you applied. I believe the lawyer will take half of that for his fee. At least that's what happened with me. When I first applied I filled out the forms myself and got denied. Then I was in a locked psychiatric hospital for some months and my parents ( I was 20 years old at the time) hired a lawyer to appeal my case. He visited me in the hospital with a bunch of forms and asked me some questions. That was my only part in it until the hearing. He collected all my hospital records and some employment records. He did EVERYTHING else.In my state (California)we have employment agencies that cater to the disabled exclusively. I want to tell you not to give up on a job search.I am severely disabled but I have worked most of the last 30 year since I was diagnosed witn paranoid schizophrenia. I've been fired from jobs probably 10 or 11 times. But I kept trying.I have had a couple jobs that lasted for four years and three years. There are job out there that I have lucked into that are not easy, but are simple. Unloading trucks is a no-brainer. So is working at a recycle center or as a janitor. Hey, it's money.

You know there is no answer, but you should be able to get SSI
but once again, we have a country that will take care of other lands ripping us off and killing us and not take care of the people that made this country.
Just look around at the vets that have served this country and the treatment they get.

Hey hey we're in the same boat. You're not a failure darlin you just need help. If you've been rejected it's time to hire a disability attorney. I'm waiting for my first rejection and then I have one already ready to go. they only charge if they win, and that's a percentage of the lump sum. Do you have your own doctors/psychiatrists? If not, a good attorney will have someone they use to make sure you're really disabled.
I'm here today due to the blessedness of a good daughter helping me out. But she'll soon be ready to fly, so I'm hoping soon I can at least get a little independence with a steady check. I'm scared too, but please don't stereotype. I am not Latino but my daughter is half, and believe me it's not making a bit of difference in either my disability or my welfare case. Take care and add me if you want someone to talk to. :)

Get a disability lawyer, you almost need one to get benefits. You will also need at least two doctors and a psychologist to sign off on the paperwork.

There are volunteers who deal with things like this for people with acquired brain injuries. Ask someone to help you find someone to do these things for you.
