The Truth, If you tell her the truth she will not be left with the hope of getting back together or that it did not end right and mourn over the breakup. Just ask yourself, how it would effect you if the tables were turned on you and how would you want to be told.

Respectful is easy. Don't lie, don't outright insult her, don't use her, don't make a point of making her feel worse than she'll inevitably feel.

The "best way" is open to definition though... what do you want. The EASIEST way for you?? The way that will hurt her the least? The quickest way, like ripping a bandaid?? The way that'll let you stay friends, the way that will "sever all ties forever", what do you want?

Tell her exactly that. Don't come up with bullshit excuses or easy let-down lines. Just tell her you aren't feeling it anymore.

it depends on the cercomstanses, i would be as kind as i could and mabye tell her that its just not working out for you and you dont want to waste any more of her time,it just wouldent be fair. tell her there is some one out there for her that is more sutible and she deserves the best. thank her for all she has done for you and for all the great times, and wish her the best, with a hug.tell her your sorry for any hurt you may have caused her. and dont call her again! this just confuses them, and makes it harder for them to move on. be kind.

Tell her exactly the way you worded this question. Or "I don't want to see you anymore." Theres no real nice way to break up with someone. Either way you see it, they're going to feel rejected. Just be honest, I don't see why people feel the need to constantly tiptoe around breakups.

Say sternly, coldly and calmly in a deep monotone voice:

"This relationship isn't working out for me. I'm moving out/we should see other people. [delete as applicable]"

Wait for her reaction.

If she has questions, answer them very briefly and tactfully.

If she makes statements or hurls insults just nod your head and listen. Don't respond.

If she physically attacks you, get the **** out of there fast.
