Ummm....maybe have your shy friend do some Q&A type stuff. She can reply to the intelligent responses and maybe that turns into a circle request. Friendship requires participation and taking risks. :)

Usually, at first I would consider just observing how other people around her interact and have a conversation. How they talk, eye contact, body language. Etc. Then, after that, try to approach someone that she knows or is familiar with and talk to them. But if you are referring to talking here online, then that's a little different. And I'm sorry to say that Idk about that. Usually you just express yourself online.
