in my society, as a guy. Be a rock, unmoveable, emotionless, essentially perfect without any flaws whatsoever. Any sign of weakness and everyone will take advantage of you. For the most part responbilities to myself, but also others since so many rely on you to be that way.

As a single mom, I have to assume full responsibility for my children. I have to make sure rent and all the bills are paid each month. As a female, I wasn't raised to be nurturing or even loving. Growing up, I was an easy target for predators, as well as bullies. As a female, I am not as 'free' as a man; I still have to be on alert for predators. Everything I go through, I go through alone. My responsibilities for my children have been extensive and ongoing. If I have to go without, or eventually become homeless again and eat from garbage cans, that's because my responsibilities to others, come first. I don't have anyone to turn to, or help me with any of it.

I'm a girl - therefore it is expected that i cook and clean and soothe flared tempers, that i don't cuss, don't discuss anything "vulgar"

i was always the one with the most chores, the most responsibility, and the least reward

when my brother did something, he was just being a boy, but when i did something wrong...

As a female and a mother you're scrutinised to the max on everything you do and criticised and whispered about whereas a guy practically gets a medal for just burping a baby :( fkn bs double standards no respect crap :(

Not in my house, i am a house husband and my wife is my Superior and Boss. My wife tells me what she wants done and when, and i will have it done because i do not want to fail her. She makes all of the decisions and i follow.

It really depends on you having a sense of duty, of course men get more high end jobs and nursing is female dominated if you were looking for a generalization.

I was kind of thinking about what you feel responsible for, many women feel like the buck stops with them when it comes to child rearing, and I'm sure many men feel like its their responsibility to bring home enough money for their entire family, irrespective of their spouses salary.

That is a good observation, I had not expended enough thought to even consider that point.
