    It's not about physical distance really is it? If you're far apart emotionally and spiritually ... it becomes beyond the rules. You can be lying in a bed with someone and be far away.

    I would think it'd have to be far enough away that you can't easily just make the trip to see them. For me, since I drive, I'd say they'd probably have to be more than about 30-40 miles for me to be comfortable with breaking up over the phone. For the most part they deserve to be told to their face and have a proper face-to-face explanation.
