The average time to really get over a relationship averages as half the length of said relationship.

Really depends on the person. My best friend was devastated after her tragic breakup with her 5 year boyfriend, yet she ended up with another guy 2 weeks afterward. Her boyfriend also just broke up with his long-term girlfriend and ended up with my best friend in less than a week. They're both quite happy now. But there are also people like me who goes out with someone for 12 weeks, break up, and then won't go out with someone until at least a year later...could also depend on the depth of the relationship.

You might never get over it, if you become socially withdrawn in ways that impede you from meeting new people.
