How long after you start dating someone is it alright to introduce them to your child?

AFTER YOU HAVE RAN A BACKGROUND CHECK ON THEM....and you're becoming serious....you don't want people in and out of your children's lives.....it's hard on them....

Don't even think twice about not doing a background check.....these are your babies.

My ex thinks it is okay to do it while we are still together.

I think it is okay, when you as the parent are cool with it. I'd have my current g/f around my daughters if we didn't live so far away. =/

I agree that you should run a back ground check. These are your children and it is your responsibility to keep them safe. Better to know if someone is a criminal or sex offender before you get involved with them instead of waiting until your heart is involved. Some things can be worked on and some things can't. Your children always need to come first. They are completely dependant on your wisdom to keep them safe. Keep your dating life seperate from your kids until you know if you are going to be good friends or more with the person. It is hard on kids to get close to someone only to have that person disappear because you broke up. I wouldn't even tell someone I had a child until we had been out quite a bit and I knew that this was someone I wanted in my life for a long time. Dating and children are mutually exclusive in my book. Good luck.

Once you know FOR SURE that this is a good person. But, please, whatever you do, do not expose your children to man after man after man.

ummmm..... Just because you do a background check doesn't really mean anything.

If a person being accused of something and not found guilty
it won't show up on their record.

So, I guess the next step should be a mental evaluation.

when the relationship is steady and before any sex

if he's wrong for your kids, it's harder to bail out after sex is involved

As soon as you can work it in. Anybody remember the "Holiday" hiding and pretending are not good, only in the movies does it end happily ever after
