HIV doesnt kill you. when ur t-cell count gets low, u become vulnerable to all kinds of petty sicknesses like the common cold and if u get sick then u could die. if u have a high t-cell count then u could live for yrs or just live ur live with it

Lostsoul is right: HIV doesn't kill you - it's the other diseases you catch when you immune system is depleted.<br />

Also, there are different strains of HIV which appear to react and spread in different ways. Some doctors have even suggested that there's a strain which never turns into full-blown AIDS, but I don't know how true that is. In the early days of AIDS, before any treatments were available, people with HIV tended to live anywhere between 2-10 years. It does depend on the individual though.
