A couple of years ago my family and I had to leave South Carolina because of a hurricane. We cut our vacation short and had made it up into Warren, Va, late on a Friday afternoon. I don't remember which hurricane it was, but it took twice as long as normal to get from Myrtle Beach to Warren, and then traffic stopped. Luckily, we're seasoned travellers, and we have a Class B motorhome, so we were relatively comfortable. It literally took 2 hours to go five miles at one point, and the entire "by-pass" took about 3 hours!

I think the longest time it took me to drive 7 miles to the next hamlet, I was following the DOT truck that was painting the lines in the middle of the road the whole way. What a pain in the butt that was!

It took 2 and half hours to drive 40 miles, one rainy day.
