Resolved Question

How many husbands say I'm here to listen then tell you they don't want to hear it?

My husband always say I should talk to him about whats bothering me. You'd think I'd learn after so long. Whenever I do talk to him he uses it against me in our next argument or he tells me, you don't have to tell me, I already know. so much for being there to listen.

I wouldn't have said I would listen if I knew you were going to say that!

Just because they say they don't want to hear it doesn't necessarily mean that they don't.

There are other ways to "get heard". Sheesh, I've been married too long!!

Welcome to marriage!!! Ah, it's a beautiful thing, isn't it?!?..

Try talking WITH HIM (NOT AT HIM)...watch the words that you use, that they do not come across as "accusations" or what "he needs to do". Suggestions...or "I Feel like" or try "I am wondering what you think about this"...ok, this way he doesn't put a wall up. I have also learned to sometimes just give him space...it kills me...but my hubby needs this or else a blow up will occur. It can be tough...you are not alone!!! Just try new ways of communicating, every relationship is different with different dynamics. With time and continued efforts, things can improve...also, try talking about the "lack of communication" issues when things are good...he may open up more. Ask him how YOU can talk to him...put the ball in his court in a cool way. Always end with a hug too...after all, I know you love him and he loves you. Best wishes. :)
