How many of you submit stories on EP and feel pressure to make them sound interesting and exotic?
I feel like a lot of stories I'm reading lately are about major life events of peoples lives and don't capture the essence of what their everyday or usual situations and feelings are. I want to stress the value of less eventful, crazy, but more heartfelt and expressive pieces because they are very interesting to read. As a reader it is much easier to emotionally relate to or understand a person when they've channeled their raw emotion and viewpoint into a powerful piece of writing. I feel like with writing stories as such one is able to contribute to the community much more effectively. Shouldn't the purpose of submitting a story be to alleviate your mind from the thoughts that a given problem, secret, or fact about yourself provokes, while allowing other members a chance to overcome their own problem or to relate to each other, giving them the feeling of having a group they belong to where people will listen to things they otherwise would not get a chance to share.
