I had to go thru that. I have arthritis and I was hired to do a very simple low-paying job that became more and more physically demanding until after 18 months I had to quit. I applied for unemployment money and got it but the employer challenged my claim. I think they were used to illegal aliens who didn't speak English.

It was an hour-long conference call, with an arbiter to judge and they had a lawyer, I didn't. They were supposed to prove I'd quit because I was "disgruntled", but I was the one one on the defensive, I had to talk almost nonstop for an hour and 5 minutes to defend myself. I was constantly interrupted by the lawyer, who obviously wasn't prepared and wasn't expecting an intelligent person. I had sent in the appropriate paperwork, a letter from a doctor, stuff showing no one from the company had tried to contact me, and so on, I was very well-prepared and had dates and everything at hand.

I won, but it was an exhausting and humiliating experience. It still disturbs me that they had a lawyer and I was forced to prove my case, they didn't have to prove anything.

All I can say is, be prepared!

Already went through it. I faxed all my paperwork to the deputy in charge of the interview. The temp agency tried to challenge my claim by saying I didn't call them to continue checking on a job. They were the ones that told me I would be notified if any jobs were available. But they didn't.

Won a few, but we only fought a few of them too. One was a person who worked for us for three weeks. He hardly ever showed up and when he did he stole from us.....another one was a guy who tried to sue us so we would pay his medical bills. He was full of ****, case got thrown out of court and I think his insurance company ended up suing him for filing multiple false claims. Most people we had no problem with them getting unemployment...

I would say that's a small price to pay in order to be paid for not working....

Shouldn't be any price to pay if they fired you. Aint likr you asked to be unemployed. Unless ur one of those lazy people that aren't looking for work and prefer to live off the system.
