i read an article recently that people tend to stay in the class they were born into. The chance of moving up or down more than one class is only about 1/2 a percent. If your born poor only about 0.5% will become wealthy. If you're born wealthy only about 0.5% will become poor.

i dont know if thats true but it seems about right

It all depends on how responsible they are with what they have.

What's "wealth?" If you are born in America -- even in poverty -- you are incredibly wealthy by world standards. Historically, if you have a warm place to live and food on the table year round, you are more wealthy than 99.9% of the people who have ever lived.

But that isn't want you really asked. I doubt there is a percentage. If you are born to one of the one-percent, the odds are excellent you will die rich. If your grandparents built a business that your parents now run, chances are you will lose it and end up relatively poor.

Most lottery or quick rich situations quickly end in poverty because the person lacks the knowledge to manage their wealth.

If one lives frugally on a trust fund of one million dollars, one can last for almost a lifetime....but one must live very frugally. Percentages don't enter into it when it comes to your personal spending habits.

My Aunt/Uncle won $17.4 mil. in the lottery; less than 10 years later they were totally broke and in debt. You just can't polish a turd!
