I took my test here in the UK in 1971. I had 5 lessons the provisional licence and the test fee, and the whole lot was £10 !!!

Wow! I like our days better. With defensive driving, written test, driving test, liscence, etc. it cost over $800 for my son. Then he had to think about a car. My first car was $200.

Nothing--but that was long ago and far away in a time when they gave actual driving lessons in high school and local car dealers donated free cars to the program in hopes that students would buy what they learned to drive with.
