How much did your wedding cost?

Well, the last of my little birdies, will be leaving the nest soon....planning her wedding for January....Looking over the catering, the dress, the venue....ugh....I am thinking "there goes my life's savings"....haha

Curious, what did you all spend on your wedding?...and how much of the budget went to what? Thanks for answering.....also, any suggestions that you found helpful, when planning yours, would be greatly appreciated.

Both of my weddings were cheap. My first marriage cost me my dignity and my self respect. My second marriage cost me my ability to trust.

I am really thinking that I want to elope now, rather than paying for an all-out wedding.

Mine didn't cost very much. Of course it wasn't a traditional wedding either. My husband and I got married on a Friday at the courthouse $50 and we invited our close family to be there. Then the next day we had the reception at my inlaws house. We rented canopies, tables and chairs. We have an extensive music collection so we were our own DJ. We had the food catered from a local italian resturant and bougt sodas and champaign. My coworkers bought my cake for us, which I picked out at Vons and was beautiful. All together I think it was about $1000, that might even be including our honeymoon.

Here is the best idea I can give you.

Call the cruise lines. They provide the food for a decent price and invite all to come to florida. Send your daughter and new son and law on a cruise for a VERY cheap cost.
You wont regret it. Guest can go on the cruise as well or just stay inland and enjoy the food and fun.

The advice I got at the time was to go cheap on everything but the photographer since after you are done blowing a fortune, you will want to look back and see where your money went.

We spent £250 on our wedding.

That was all we had! And that amount included a gift of cash!

Out of that sum, we bought our clothes, those of my Maids of Honour, paid the Registrar's fee, catered the reception and pid for the hire of the hall in which the reception was held!

I'm not married yet, but plan to be soon. Hopefully not much, since I'm getting zero financial support from the family and will quite likely have to pay for the whole thing myself.

My parents spent about 8,ooo on ours. The two most costly and well worth spent things were my dress and photographer. Lol edgergeorge about the photographer, so true! With all said and done 5years later our wedding was priceless! I would have spent a million dollars on the memories I have today.

When your thinking about budget you need to think about guest count. An average wedding is about $45 per person to feed. So if you want an inexpensive wedding don't go crazy on the invites.
