How much time is too much time to receive financial assistance from the government?

How long should family's be eligible to receive financial assistance from the government? Should we force them off even if it means that they may go hungry? What do you think would be most beneficial for these family's in the long run?

Anytime is too long, there may be room for some cases involving children but I would rather see a relocation fund to areas with a greater employment potential for adults that are seeking relief. I think able bodied people should forget about entitlements to government assistance.

How about this give them aid for a ( to be determined ) period of time then require them to work doing some job like picking up litter or sweeping parking lots for their handout 2 or 3 days a week and require them to provide proof that they are actively looking for work.

I don't think they should cut off aid like food or for the injured, disabled or elderly...but employment aid probably has to be...but maybe they should have employment assistance like in the old days where people could go take classes and such at charities

I think if they are on it they should have to be actively looking for work after 6 months...Cut them off ..no the kids need it

It just seems to me that if we never cut them off that often it becomes a repetitive cycle with the children. I agree that they should have to actively and i mean actively look for a job and if they choose not too and they are cut off and still do not look for work then their children should be taken out of the home for neglect. To me the is a huge difference between not being able to find a decent job and not even trying. Laziness should not be condoned it is just teaching our children to be lazy..

Well it depends on the situation, especially now that it's tougher to get a job.
