How old where you when you got engaged? how did you family react?

not everyone was happy but the people who mattered accepted it because they knew I was happy.

I was about 36 when I got married to my chosen Beloved. My parents made remarks about her being "second-hand" and "after my money", so they were not invited to the wedding. However, my Sweetie and I had a very successful and happy marriage of 34 years, after which death did us part (but only temporarily, I expect!).

I was 27. They were happy but not surprised. We had been livinig together for three years.

I've been engaged to almost every boyfriend I've had.

First at I think 15, but I never told my mom. We dated for 3 years total.

Again at 18, and again didn't really tell my mom. Received quite a few rings from this one. I did tell my mom when we started trying for kids though.... another 3 year relationship.

Now I am engaged, but I have no ring. I guess I told my mom by telling her we were gonna get married (which didn't end up happening due to his Naval career). The wedding's been postponed til next July or later, which is when his contract is up. My mom wasn't happy or upset, but she hasn't got to meet him more than twice now, just gets to hear me talk about him. She said he sounds great and she would be happy for me.

The first time I was engaged, my family made us break up. I think they didn't like it because we were 7 years old.
