How shallow can people really be? Take Antiquarianbutterfly for example....see details
Antiquarianbutterfly made a post about Christmas and Pagans...Many pointed out the flaws of his narrative and I went further to explain where he was flawed.....Yet, this is what really strange people do, that keep them, well, strange...Rather than look up what I said, they block....So tell me, what does a person learn or why bother to post a question (his was a statement) if they discover they were wrong and refuse to even entertain the notion they might just not be correct and then to block...??? I see this a lot here....Why do you think people do this? are they spoiled brats or,,,,,???????

I don't see the point of even being on here if you're going to block people who simply disagree with you. I'd rather hear other points of view, because sometimes I can actually gain perspective that way. The person who thinks they know it all is probably the most ignorant one in the room, and I think that applies to someone who blocks someone else for simply disagreeing with them.

Some people can't stand to be wrong. I think everyone should have an open mind and take what help they can before this world gets in to much more of a mess.

Sounds like a typical liberal response to me. LOL Some people on here pontificate just for validation and if you offer a different view, they don't like it.

you just made a huge question/post about a person who you named... when you point a finger you find 3 pointed back at you...

Something very similar happened to me. Someone asked a question about their best friend becoming a bridezilla and becoming conceited with her because she was single. I asked her why would she think its a personal target to her as opposed to this friend just being in a dreamy bubble of happiness? Sometimes people who are ecstatic in their own lives do not realise they can side away the other people in their lives and my question was not to offend. Of course, I was blocked because I did not join in the hate rant of her bridezilla friend. :D. lol.
I think, they want attention of a certain kind, and if what they say or ask is questioned, they can not handle it. And they do not want to be put on the spot to question their own words and actions.Like (2)

I understand your frustration. Some people cannot see past their own stubborn bigotries; as we age, it is important to try to look through different lenses instead of throwing tantrums and blocking people.

You are welcome. I've had one ep member try to ream me, but then again, he is a fickle, shallow man who treats many people that way. Oh well, his loss.Like (1)

I wouldn't say shallow, per say maybe stubborn and ignorant. If your wrong about something and its pointed out you should in turn take what you learn and grow yourself. The blocking **** should be used for people who are getting rude and inappropriate comments and messages. And per the user who claimed the whole pointing finger crap out. By using someone's name in a point is validation for the point. Many people can go and view first hand.

Serial blockers should maybe be banned from EP. Defeats the purpose of the site for most.

Eventually, they'll block so many people that they'll become an island unto themselves.Like (1)

Some people just don't like to be corrected, therefore they will never learn anything new

And it's not shallow to blast on someone by name/username like you just did?

You posted one side of an argument and attempted to get a reaction more than actual advice. I can't even look up the initial question-in-question to verify any of your "info." So yeah, it's kind of bullshit. Those aren't "factual statements" until there's proof.Like (1)

Lots of times people are asking questions to confirm their own theories/opinions.

Yeah it takes some time and debate to get people to change their views. Some people are more flexible than others. And if they're asking questions for those reasons, they'll probably be pretty resistant to different opinions.Like (1)

Idk, ask your friend with the death penalty case since that's basically what he just did.

I read your response.
if you get through the snark, (which there isn't much of),
you offer a very clear explanation and fact-check.Like (1)

I think sometimes when a person posts something it's a belief. It's a statement that, right or wrong, really is part of their identity. If someone disagrees with them, they could see it as attack on them personally. Speaking for myself, I don't care if someone disagrees or even criticizes me, as long as that criticism is constructive.

That is to be expected from someone who is wrong and does not have anything left to say to back up their statment. I don't get it either. People should not make a post about something if know they will offended by oppisition. Notl matter the situation, there will always be someone who will not agree. And if they have not figured that out by now, then they are going to have a real tough time.

EP is not a schoolhouse where you teach others...it's a nuthouse where you learn to avoid others, while still being witty and charming...lol
