It's simple: Imagine how other people are feeling. Empathy is the basis of emotional intelligence.
For starters, only indulge emotions that push in the same direction as logic and double check then even then. Also learn to shut off emotions that push you toward unwise thought or actions.

I'm not sure there IS such a thing. Emotions just are what they are. We can control our behavior while feeling them, (if we're lucky) but have little influence on wising them up. At least I don't.
Speak about your feelings. When your hurt talk about it address the matter and work on fixing it.
Although they don't coincide think rationally about your emotional decisions and actions.
