How to ensure he doesn't think it's a date?
I'm meeting up for lunch with a former coworker today. I was the one who suggested it; we're both teachers on school holidays at the moment. He's migrated here so doesn't have any family and not that many friends around; all my non-teacher friends are working at the moment. He's 40, I'm 24. We generally get on well but haven't seen each other outside of work in a one-on-one situation before. How can I make sure he knows it's not a date (without telling him straight out)?
