How to help epileptic mother? Her side of the family won't help her because she gets snappy because of the seizures. Bar

ely anyone will let her rent a room because of the seizures. I am thinking of helping her get the Vagus Nerve Stimulation procedure to help calm the epilepsy and getting a cheap apartment together.

Thanks, I'm really pissed off at Grandma, aunts, and the uncles for shunning her.

For many years, my grandmother wouldn't believe I had epilepsy. She believed I was faking my seizures until about ten years ago, when I had one big enough to put me in the hospital for four days. Ugh, how frustrating. I always made a point of telling my friends about my seizures, as I knew that they would be there more for me than family.
I would suggest going to see her doctor with her, and finding out first hand what the options are. Also, get yourself a free subscription to a magazine called NeurologyNow. Their website is neurologynow.com They also have a facebook and a twitter.
One thing to remember is that we are all different. What helps me, may not help her, and vice versa, which is why I don't like to advise on what kind of treatment to give her. You'll have to get that from her doctor.

Just over a week ago, I had a huge seizure while on one of my walks, and it knocked me out for a while. What hurt is that no one who passed by stopped to help me. I was alone and lonely until I found a friend to help me. It's not easy.

I could go on, but I won't. But, please try and talk to her doctor about the types of seizures she has and the medication she's on. That's a good place to start anyway.

Ok thanks. I hope you find the right procedure and meds to reduce your seizures.
