Open your eyes really wide or think of something funny

Practice, but are you sure that's something you really want? I thought it was, but now it's very difficult for me to cry, even when I want to. Careful what you wish for.

Well whenever in trying to be strong over crying about something that has really hurt me, I usually open my eyes really wide and breath in through my nose not my mouth and it has held back tears in situations where there could of been many.
I don't recommend trying to hold back a feeling or a release of emotion as we do it for a reason and it can make your feel better afterwards anyway, but that works for me every time.Like (1)

You could try to focus real hard on something else ..... but it's not always a bad thing to just let the tears flow. When I am hurting, sometimes I can hold back the tears; other times, I just have to let it all out.
