I think there's nothing wrong with taking a child to a funeral. Why pretend that death doesn't exist? How you keep them quiet depends on their age. If very young, fluffy blanket and teddy and a stern warning should be ok. A bit older, a lolly pop or sucking sweet and a brief explination, a bit older : bribery, an ice-cream later. Either way, children should be exposed to situations where more a 'formal' / serious tone is expected. Good luck.

Dont bring them... if they cant be controlled or understand what is going on...find something that they can do like gameboy was used for us when we were kids
