How to make people less materialistic?

Hmm, Have you looked at the retail sales reports orthe economy as of today? We are in a depression. I don't think people are able to be as materialistic as you may think. Why are people so greedy.

I don't think you can make people do anything they don't want to do. Change must come from within.

Write them a check for 5 million dollars or give them the superlotto winning ticket.

Well, friend that is true. The truth is, we are in fact, living in a material world and on the way to the spiritual one, we're bound to lose sight, one time or another. If you're asking how to make people less materialistic, the answer is you cannot really. You can only try to inspire them to be like you, but, in the end, everyone must carve his own tracks out.

Rip off some of the material from their clothing and then they will go, oh I look so bad, and then they won't think of perfect clothing anymore but how it feels to have imperfect ones and that will make them feel less perfect. (materialistic).

Tell them that: 1. Everything that composes will one day decompose and that they are not going to take things with them when they pass. 2. It also says in the 10 Commandments not to put other IDOLS (Gods, objects) before GOD.

It's a material world, so if a person is materialistic I would think it would be pretty hard to change them -- especially a city person. I find materialism and spiritualism is all in your location. I think it is easier to be more spiritual when you are not surrounded by all the "bells and whistles" city life has to offer. If you want to see a more spiritual side in someone - take them someone more natural. The beach, a hike -- somewhere where the beauty of nature is consuming... it is a little hard to be materialistic in a place like that!!

We can't make people be less materialistic. They have do it on their own.
