Well, I can tell you what's worked for me. If the girl isnt attainable for whatever reason, she just accept the fact. And remember that it's not wrong to find things that you find that attractive in another person, it's just ******.. There's always someone else out there that you've passed over because of a crush. The world is made of Love Triangles. I'm kind of lucky that I get to actually **** my crush every now and then... but that not withstanding, should either go for it or just accept it.

Try to look at their "real" person. If you watch them for a little while, you'll notice things about them that aren't in the "rose colored glasses" view. I had that problem and concentrated on their annoying habits.
