The name of the movie was actually "The Texas Chainsaw Mascara" and it was the true story of Tammy Faye Bakker.

It is only slightly based on real-life murder Ed Gein, who was suspected to have murdered several victims between 1954-1957........It had nothing to do with Texas...you can blame it on Wisconsin.

It is not a true story, thank God. I have not seen the movie, but apparently it is inspired by real-life killer Ed Gein - cannibalism, making stuff of human bones - who also inspired the novel Psycho, written by Robert Bloch and filmed as 1960 movie directed by Alfred Hitchcock. Gein killed two middleaged women, not teenagers, but he was somewhat tragic character - seriously mentally ill, schizophrenic I assume, and thus sent to mental hospital. Unfortunately the supersleazy filmmakers and true crime fans like to ride with the extremely squalid details of Geins“s career. He was also product of misogynistic, ultra-Christian family and saw sex and women as sinful, which may or may not be one reason why he was so troubled.
