Sometimes even after you get pregnant/ get someone pregnant you second guess yourself.

When you can afford to raise them, without to much money worries.

No matter how much money, comfort, or security you have, you will 'Never' be prepared. When they get here they are their on little people, and every child is different, I have 4.......LOL
Have fun when you do decide though, they are a 'Hoot'!

For many teenagers, the right time to have children is when they discover they're pregnant.

Having said that, if you have a modicum of stability in your life, you have a way to earn a decent living...other than flipping burgers, you have health insurance, and you've given a great deal of thought to raising a child, then that's as good a time as any.

When you're too old to have any.

Statistically speaking 90% of women on Earth will have a least one child in their lifetime, so I wouldn't worry too much about the timing of your first child.

However, the right time for me to have kids is when hell freezes over and monkeys fly out of my butt. But that's just me!

When your desire to have a child has more to do with the ramifications of the life you would be creating and less to do with your own vanity and emotional needs, the time is likely right no matter your age, income, race, religion or living situation. The world is overpolluted with hopeless children born to "mature", wealthy people that don't have a clue as to WTF they're doing.

Advice: fu(k statistics. When you feel you are ready to create someone the world can benefit from, go for it. The only criteria is the purity of your own heart.

Borrow a couple of toddlers from a relative for a long weekend. (No cheating on the time. A full three days and do everything yourself) When you can manage that and still look forward to having your own you are just about ready. Then get the spouse and the house organised.

I don't think many people consider this concept. Your consideration of it however, is very impressive. It happened for me at a time when my then Girlfriend and I were capable financially and ready to have them.Actually we were'nt, but we believed that, and worked from there, as I think most people do.

When you've met someone you can imagine spending the rest of your life with, and you're both satisfied that the idea of sleepless nights etc, losing 18 years or so of liberty, the odd bit of pain, is worth the joy of children.

i had my kids when we were way too young, poor, and immature. we had no experience or skills to be parents. we planned 2 of our 5 kids. we were high school kids raising kids. somehow, God knew my husband and i were idiots, and my kids seemed oblivious to our bumbling attempts to be good parents. my kids are all college graduates, happily married to wonderful people, and have kids. they are spiritual, they serve in the community, schools, and my boys have served their country.

i don't know why they turned out so well.

i would never, ever recommend anyone to do it the way my husband and i did. that's taking a huge chance for yours and your childrens' future and happiness.

i guess my point is, it's possible to have an amazing family in spite of whether you're ready to be parents, or not. it's just not easy. prepare as much as you can, then enjoy them when they come.

you may never know, but us women have this biological clock thing going on....so theres always that...I agree with nowsure, under 18 is just way too young...heres my thought on what you need....an education....a career or plan....plenty of savings...a supportive strong relationship with both sides of the family (yours and your partners), they are the first people you WILL need to lean on in times of crisis or dificulty..a strong commitment with the man you want this future with...a good clear plan of how many children you want to have...a clear plan of your goals in the relationship....always looking ahead, as a baby isn't just something cute to hold, it needs love security, strong foundation...you need to provide so much other than monitory...so the fact you ask when is a good time, is an indication you are smart.....you will know when you have met someone you love and trust...and can see yourself spending the rest of your lives raising children with....who can accept you at your best and worst...as its not very glamorous having a baby...you will feel when its right, and it will be.....best of luck....

As soon as you get married, in order that your children would not be too young when you had to leave them to themselves.
