Don't mean to be mean but you need some Listerine,
not a sip not a swallow but the whole darn bottle.

***A lot depends on who the person is of course.

But maybe you could schedule a dental appointment together. Casually let them know you have a check up coming up and see if they want to make a day of it.

Depends on the intimacy you have. For all occasions, offer a gum or a breath mint before you have one yourself. If the point is not taken, repeat next time you meet and everytime until the point is taken. If we are talking about bf/gf offer a gum, take one yourself and tell the truth very politely with an understanding on your face but without making the other one feel that you are mocking him/her.if it's a friend, well, real friends do not misjudge those things so say it politely and be ready for a discussion where you will probably hear one of your irritating faults. It happens sometimes.

It varies with respect to the relationship. You interact with a coworker differently from a family member. Some people just don't care, and it is for the same reason that some people don't bathe. People who neglect oral hygiene while young must pay tens of thousands of dollars in dental bills, when they reach their fifties.

Tell them by body language, pinch your nose and back slowly away and hope they notice.
