Read up on the Cornell fiasco to see how useless and counterproductive that particular one was. Sit-ins in restaurants are a different story. They were effective at evoking the sense of fairness that lay in the hearts of large numbers of Americans.

Well, blacks have a history of holding sit-ins for the civil rights movement, and right wing whites have a history of siccing(sp?) police dogs on blacks who sat-in.
