I am completing my MS degree in Mental Health and we are to find a unique support group. I was wondering if?
I was wondering if someone would share their experience in being a part of this support group. What are the pros and cons? What ways are this support group helpful? Thank you!

If ever there was an online support group where one could address any physical or mental illness, and share with others, this would be it. The experience project has helped me stay sober for 18 months, and has also helped me find other dual and poly-diagnosis people that I can relate to. People here have helped me through many a rough day or night.

One of the things I like most about EP is that you can talk about anything, and not worry that it's wrong in any way to do so... They say 'you can be yourself here', and as far as I can tell, they mean it. This is a wonderful group to be a part of - and new people join all the time. It's fun, informative and not boring - even when moods flare up and what not. It's all part of the learning experience. Best of luck with your study project.

I found the site looking for a support group for my diabetes. and I got hooked. I have found so many friends here that have the same (or near enough) thoughts, fears, pains. and more importantly your Joys, Hopes, beliefs all (for the most part) with out judgment.

and the best thing I can say about this site
my oldest daughter logged on and found a group joined it and for the first time she admitted she was depressed and suffered from depression

this site helps me work through issues that i might have with my husband or with my self... its nice to talk to someone who isnt apart of your everyday life and some people can have really good points on here .... plus sometimes its good to just get crap out or even to help others....

its helped me deal with my husband being gone for long periods of time... he is in the navy

I'm very new to this site but I have to say I love it. I don't have a great support system at home. My family sort of alienates me and I was getting more and more lonely and frustrated. Here, I can let off steam and talk about my problems with people who get me. It makes me feel so much better to have some support in my life. I'm new so I still don't have a lot of friends in my circle yet but just to have ANY support in my life is a relief. Good Luck to you!

this support group is certainly unique in how it is set up. You ahve many different experiences you can join, that relate to literally almost any aspect of your life. For me, i joined because my significant other is in the marine corps and just left on deployment. It's great to be able to come on here and talk with people from all over that can relate to the exact situation you're in. And even if they haven't...they can give great advice. In a couple of the experiences i've joined, we've all become so close we refer to ourselves as a sisterhood. They are an entire group filled with the strongest women in the world, and i couldn't be prouder of them! Even on days when we are at our weakest, and mentally are so drained we feel we can't move on, we just come on here, talk to the girls about whats going on...and a million different ideas and supports come flying at you! Having to deal with my love being deployed while having to continue my own life is one of the most difficult things i have had to do emotionally because there are so many unknowns. This support group has turned many of those fears into knowns, and day by day i become a stronger, better individual.
