It is simply a code some people live by. It is really no different than any other moral code.<br />
I can't speak for everyone, but I was a United States Marine. There is honor in being part of a select group of people that conduct themselves with courage, integrity and honor.<br />
It certainly isn't for everyone, but we should be thankful that there are some that are willing to in our stead.

The problem is that honour is defined differently by people. So much depends upon culture and perspective. Therefore, there is no universal honour.<br />

There is military honour, which I comply with but that also is one sided and sometimes destructive.<br />

Family honour can result in terrible things, such a 'honour killings'<br />
<br />
For myself, I have honour which is for me defined as following my own system of ethics and integrity. Even this may evolve over a lifetime.

Honor is pride. Personal pride is often stupid, but honor is... in a way it's a bond. The strength of your bonds between family or your country. Going against honor would be like a betrayal to (or breaking the bonds between) your family or country. Hard concept to explain :P
